Course Description: This course will continue lessons from AMT312 with lessons on using Chinese traditional internal medicine which uses traditional Chinese medical theory to explain the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of diseases. Internal medicine has two major divisions: external aggression and internal injury. The pathological changes and symptoms are classified chiefly by six channels: Wei, Qi, Ying, Blood, and Triple Warmer. Internal injury includes all disease of the solid and hollow organs, channels, and collaterals. They analyze and differentiate treatment using Qi, Blood, Body Fluids, channels internal injury and miscellaneous diseases.

Purpose of Course: This course is the third part of the four part series providing student with in-depth knowledge of differentiation and treatment of acupuncture and herbal prescriptions for diseases.

Learning Objectives: 

1.        To learn the basic theory, principles and techniques of Chinese Traditional Internal Medicine.

2.        To teach students to treat and prevent common internal diseases with Acupuncture and Asian Medical Herbs.

3.        To understand the etiology, pathology, and treatment of upper and middle body diseases: both chronic and acute, including Jue Syndrome, mania, depression, and psychosis.
