Course Description: The sequence of the course lessons will be continued acupuncture therapeutics include the study of: acupuncture treatment for lumbago, lower back pain, bi-syndromes, wei-syndrome, arthralgia, flaccidity and hysteria and pain in hypochondriac region, treatment for gynecological diseases; irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, uterine bleeding, morbid leukorrhea, morning sickness, prolonged labor, malposition of fetus, insufficient lactation, lactified delectation and prolapse of uterus, treatment for pediatric diseases; infantile convulsion, infantile diarrhea, infantile malnutrition, infantile paralysis and mumps, treatment for external diseases; urticaria, erysipelas, herpes zoster, boil and red-thread boil, breast abscess, intestinal abscess, goiter, sprain, contusion and torticollis, treatment for disease of eyes, ears, nose and throat; ear ringing, deafness and tinnitus, congestion, swelling and pain of the eye, and thick and sticky nasal discharge, rhinitis, pharyngitis with swelling and pain, epistaxis, toothache, sore throat and optic atrophy, treatment for according to ear acupuncture therapy and acupuncture anesthesia. There will be discussions on approximately 100 cases using clinical signs and differential diagnostics for therapeutic treatment.
Purpose of Course:
1. Learn an applied knowledge of the course subject matter involving theories, concepts, problem solving and critical thinking.
2. Learn acknowledge of generally accepted principles, theoretical and applied applications and alternative approaches to analyzing and responding to the application of the course's subject material to the problems and issues faced by a practitioner in the discipline of Oriental Medicine.
Learn an ability to prepare basic reports and statements and interpret reports/communication involving the course's subject matter; and understand or explain the significance of professional judgment and ethical conduct in its application, use and/or abuse.Objective of Course:
1. To understand the basic technology and function of acupuncture and moxibustion.
To know analyze and differentiate the pathological conditions of commonly seen diseases and to apply the proper prescription and treatment for them.Outcome of Learning Course: Students will possess the ability to analyze and respond to written and/or oral situations, problems, cases, and other subject issues in this area of the discipline of Oriental Medicine.
Method: Instruction will consist of in-person lectures, reading assignments, class discussions, and handouts. Classroom questions and discussions are strongly encouraged. Other instructional techniques may also be employed i.e. audio-visual presentations, speakers, critical thinking exercises and group activities.
