Course Description: The sequence of the course lessons   present introduction to Western pharmacology, discussion and assessment about drugs affecting the autonomic nervous system, the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, other organ systems, chemotherapeutic drugs, anti-inflammatory drugs and autacoids. Also Emphasizing side –effects and herb-drug interaction.

Purpose of Course: To understand the principles and effects of Western drugs on the body.

Objective:

1. Study of drug effects and the handling of drugs by the body.
2. To define the biological activity of chemical compounds.
3. Knowledge of living systems.
4. Understanding of life processes which are valuable to biological sciences in general and to medicine in particular.

Outcome of Learning Course: Student will be able to summarize and understand the biological, neural, and physiological effects of drugs, pharmacological assessment, emphasizing side-effects and herb-drug interactions

Method of instruction will consist in person of lectures, reading assignments, class discussions, and handouts. Classroom questions and discussions are strongly encouraged. Other instructional techniques may also be employed i.e. audio-visual presentations, speakers, critical thinking exercises and group activities.
